Silicone Washer Compatibility with Jaquar, Astral, and Ashirvad Fittings
Allied Silicone Washers are fully compatible with Jaquar and ESSCO bathroom faucets, Astral CPVC/PVC threaded adapters, and Ashirvad FlowGuard fittings. Because they conform to standard BSP threading and flat-shoulder sealing dimensions, they directly replace OEM rubber gaskets while delivering superior thermal and chemical longevity.
Premium sanitaryware and branded piping systems represent significant investments in residential and commercial architecture. However, even top-tier installations from market leaders like Jaquar, Astral, and Ashirvad can experience minor nuisance leaks if low-quality joint washers are used during final fixture trim-out.
Here is an engineering compatibility review demonstrating how precision silicone washers integrate seamlessly with major brand products distributed by Allied Agencies.
Compatibility Matrix: Branded Fixtures & Allied Silicone Washers
Each brand utilizes standard metric and imperial thread standards that align with Allied compression molded silicone profiles.
| Brand / System | Typical Fitting Type | Recommended Washer | Key Sealing Advantage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jaquar Bath Fittings | Angle stop valves, pillar taps, health faucets | Allied 1/2" Silicone Washer | Prevents chrome scratching from over-torquing; smooth seal with minimal hand force |
| ESSCO by Jaquar | Bib cocks, long body taps, concealed stop valves | Allied 1/2" Silicone Washer | Eliminates tap dripping caused by hard water scale on standard rubber |
| Ashirvad FlowGuard CPVC | Brass male/female threaded adapters (MTA/FTA) | Allied 1/2" & 3/4" Silicone Washers | Zero solvent interaction; protects CPVC plastic threads from stress-cracking |
| ASTRAL PIPES | Union couplings, tank nipples, brass transition fittings | Allied 3/4" & 1" Silicone Washers | High hydrostatic surge resilience up to 25 Bar // TODO(verify with owner) |
| Vectus Water Tanks | Tank connector nipples and ball valve unions | Allied 1" Silicone Washer | Weather-proof, UV-resistant sealing on outdoor rooftop tank outlets |
Protecting Plastic CPVC/UPVC Threads from Stress Cracking
A widespread issue on plumbing sites is overtightening metal-to-plastic transitions. When connecting a brass angle valve to an Ashirvad or Astral CPVC female threaded adapter, plumbers frequently over-wrap with Teflon tape and torque forcefully with pipe wrenches.
This outward radial expansion splits the CPVC female socket. By installing an Allied Silicone Washer against the internal stop shoulder, the joint achieves 100% water tightness with gentle axial compression, requiring zero overtightening and completely eliminating cracked CPVC fittings.
Best Practice Checklist
- Never over-torque brass-to-CPVC unions.
- Rely on the axial face seal of a silicone washer rather than radial thread wedging.
- Ensure the brass fitting shoulder is free of burrs before mating with plastic threads.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will replacing a Jaquar tap washer with silicone void the Jaquar warranty?
No. Washers are standard consumable wear-and-tear parts. Using a higher-grade silicone washer prevents over-torquing and preserves the internal brass threads and chrome finish.
Are silicone washers suitable for Ashirvad hot water CPVC lines?
Yes. Ashirvad CPVC is rated for hot water lines up to 93°C. Allied silicone washers operate comfortably up to 200°C // TODO(verify with owner), making them the ideal pairing for hot water CPVC loops.
